Level of Play
Termite & 6U
Termite & 6U teams will practice 2x per week (Wednesdays & Saturdays) and play games 1x per week (Sundays). Practices are primarliy "Station Based" focusing on skills with an emphasis on skating. Games are "Cross-Ice". Approximately 30 practices and 17 in-house games.
Within this age level, we will split the group into 2 skill groups (T1 & T2) primarily based on age (1st yr. vs. 2nd or 3rd yr.) but not solely. The Angels Hockey Directors will determine the appropriate group to place players based on maximizing the development for the player. This age level will participate in one "Out of Town" Jamboree (TBD) and our "In-House" Jamboree at the end of the season.
Goaltenders at the Termite/6U level are not utilized. We want all players to development proficient skating skills prior to playing the goalie position. Hotshots are used in lieu of goalies at this level.
Mite & 8U
Mite & 8U teams will practice 2x per week (Wednesdays & Saturdays) and play games 1x per week (Sundays). Practices are primarliy "Station Based" focusing on skills with an emphasis on skating. Games are "Half-Ice". Approximately 30 practices and 17 in-house games.
Within this age level, we will create 4 equal teams. This age level will participate in two "Out of Town" Jamborees (TBD) and our "In-House" Jamboree at the end of the season.
Goaltenders at the Mite/8U level are utilized but we recommend not specializing in the position at this age. A weekly rotation of skaters playing the position is primarily used at this level. Goalie equipment is provided by the Angels for the Mite/8U level.
